Wow - you guys were ahead of your time. Life is good....peace
New discovery = a 2nd LK film! The bad news - this film was exposed during filming and all but ten seconds is gone, and that 10 seconds is spotty. I got it developed years ago hoping for a miracle but it wasn't meant to be. The 10 seconds you can see is absolutley confusing, the opening scene is us standing around a garbage can with a lit fire burning inside, then the next scene appears to be Brian sitting in a lawn chair. After that it fades out and that's it. I'm going to tack it onto the other film when I digitize them, as a bonus track curiousity. Once you guys see it, it would be fun to try to remember what the plot was. I do have an extremely vague memory of filming it but I don't really remember anything other than that. Hopefully these archive releases will take place before the leaves start to fall. I have to spend a few days at my brother's house tweaking the film-to-video setup...its a dark box he built with a digital video camera on one end and the projector on the other. There are newer, much more expensive ways to do this but this method works, and he's got professional video software to take out any frame drops, flicker, over/under exposure, etc. You will all know when its finished...wish me luck and godspeed...
I'll do what I can John. By the way, there's really some great stuff on this site - things that would otherwise melt into oblivion. Dor example, I was just listening to Anarachy at NT. Really nice melody. Sux that we didn't get a better mix. How come we never played it live? And that stuff from the Eric and Pete radio show. Eric says: I didn't know 104 year old men listen to that kind of metal. Pete says: It's just like normal metal. Ha.
I've been listening to the first Lenz Kratferz recording session that I dubbed from the reel to reel. Its pretty ridiculous, there's not one, but two of those crappy casio keyboards. One's playing the samples of Pete ('dark young / dark young') and Eric is playing the other. It sounds like Carlos is there...I think he was playing one of the keyboards. Its pretty hilarious to hear the banter in between songs...Brian is heard making little quips. For some reason I sang Gonorrea God...ugh. This is pre-drumset days. Very early in our 'ourve.' The songs are Bunnies, two takes of Gonorrea God, Dark Young, Bunnies II, Things Made in Cities, and Captian Leather (although, not the version that ends with "that's so weak!" a different one). I'm just going to dub the whole session onto a CD, unedited, and send it to Marc and the band members. It's really raw and the keyboard-heavy songs sound like cacophonous punk-synth. Unfortunately there's slight warbly tape drop-out but its not throughout and it doesn't really affect the listening experience too much. I don't know what to make of this session. Eric, we need some physcological desconstruction phenomenons from you! Please write in after you've had time to absorb this session and discuss!
well the arthur ryzak song is there, in a few forms, but it's listed as "Song of the Ages" - sort of a tru LK fan shibboleth..
hello Marc. Fond memories of the Lenz Krafterz I have. Lost my tape of a live show I taped off of WNTH and I would like to hear the Arthur Ryzak song again. I don't see this song in the discography, are you on top of your game?
updated thanx john..
The Bitter Tears have been on a month-long European tour, chronicled by our drummer Tony Mendoza in a blog worth reading (bittertearstour.blogspot.com) Actually, that brings up a slight correction to the LK band family, Foster Lee should be replaced by Tony Mendoza as Bitter Tears drummer, effective for about 9 months.
Lenz Krafterz announcement - no reunion this year Hi guys, unfortunately, the Lenz-Krafterz decided not to have a reunion show this year. After discussing it on and off for months individually, we had a 4-way conference call last night. There was debate, some consternation, and affirmation. The overall feeling among the members is, we still very much feel dedicated to the spirit of the Lenz-Krafterz, and we still want to play in public. However, due to logistics, and the sacrifices necessary to make it happen in the midst of busy lives this year, combined with the artificial and/or arbitrary nature of the pre-planned 20th anniversary show, there was not 100% dedication among all members to make it happen this Summer. It would have been fun (and it still might happen in the coming months or years), but to force something to happen when one or more participants does not feel up to it, is not right, and is a recipe for disaster. We left the conference call in just as good spirits as how we started, although of course there was some disappointment. However, there was also optimism, and ideas and plans for what the future holds were discussed. We all were clear: the Lenz-Krafterz spirit is alive, the Lenz-Krafterz performances were a unique statement of creativity and energy in an unlikely context, and the Lenz-Kratferz will continue to exist, and stay in touch. There was even part of the discussion that focused on the potential for getting together in person down the road to re-connect, and create new material. The vibe was so positive, it has inspired me to spend some time re-mastering old tapes, and (hopefully) find and digitize our 8mm home movie...at Brian's request, but ultimately for the benefit of all our fans who may have never seen it, or seen it officially shown very rarely during one of our live performances. Thanks for all the support-- John
the bitter tears new album, Jam Tarts in the Jake House, comes out 3-3-09...record release party at the Hideout, 3-7-09. hey was the glenview house party summer when the amp head got destroyed??? i seem to remember bringing its pieces home with me.
Plans are in the works for a 20 year reunion Krafterz show in Chicago this summer. More info to follow. Stay tuned.
Added best live recording ever (Hemingway 19-Dec-1993) and (Glenview House Party Summer 1994) recordings courtesy John Leonard LK Archivez
john I just got the CD and popped it in, THANK YOU! you are right, tons of energy! probably the best recorded krafterz output to grace these virtual walls- too bad you had to get beat down at the end to fuel such brilliance. one of my fondest memories of this show is the audience screaming "KILL!" at the beginning of hellspawn and "all hail the hellspawn!" at the end- i'll get these mp3s up asap and ps that's totally dan merrill the Trevian mascot saying "i detest this display of violence, man" and that's me replying "obviously you're not a real lenzrafterzfan"!! my brush with fame. THANKS AGAIN!
One more thing. A few years ago Pete came over to my house with virshbo and I recorded us going over some old and, possibly, new tunes. Sadly this tape may have been destroyed or erased. I'll try to find it and post it somewhere. Oh I do have a few recordings of Eric, Alan , and me from about 4 years ago and a virshbo, and greg tune.
Hey guys, Eric reminded me about the site and I'm glad he did. It's great that the church show was found. I thought we played more than one show there. Schwantz? Also, I used to have a show from that art gallery on a greyish, whiteish Maxell or TDK cassette. I remember the sound and the show being great, a rare combination. Anyway, do you, John, now possess this tape, or is it lost forever? Smell ya later
hrm in 1992- 18th was a friday, 19th a saturday- and on 1992-12-18 was: [18-Dec 1992 HEMINGWAY CHURCH, EVANSTON, IL Hubcap, Angerhouse, Prophets Of Rage, Superfly 70, Dragonfly].. but in 1993, 18th was a saturday, 19th a sunday, so it sems less likely that a church would put a show on a sunday night?? do you remember who else played that show, john? for what it's worth i remember being a junior in highschool and the show being in dec 1993.. way after the roycemore show (got a tape of that?) really psyched to get the CD and put the traxx up!! also here's a link to prophets of rage, evanston punk-throbs!! http://www.myspace.com/prophetsofragechicago
I've been doing a little listening to old stuff recently, I put the 12-19-93 hemingway church and the 1994 Glenview house party show on CD. I wonder if the church show date is actually '92, (I recall it being 1992), but the cassette says '93, so that's official right now (maybe I'm wrong, anyone else remember?). The show is really good, I think it captures us at our peak. The vibe is a little edgy, irreverent, and energetic. This would be a show to put in a time capsule. The Glenview house party on the other hand, is not nearly as consistent (in fact, the energy tanks halfway through). Musically, the set list is pretty complete (this is just before the 'mighty knights' / 'rain' era), and has the rare 'band intro' song opening the show and a performance of 'captain leather'. I am mailing out a copy to Marc (thanks for waiting, you asked me for the church show a long time ago), in care of Brendan, in San Francisco, probably within a week. Anyone else who wants a copy of this CD, write me an e-mail. Bitter Tears news: we have a new album coming out on Carrot Top Records, likely before the end of 2008. The title has gone through revisions, I don't even know what they are going to name it, but its really f-ing good. More when it is released... -John
Yes it is. Especially since ".05% of the LenzKrafterz or their fans [had] Internet access in 1999".
Brendan and I were discussing the remarkable fact that this is one of the oldest sites on the internet. 1998. It's been a great decade of website administration around here.
WAY TO GO JOHN AND BRENDAN! John I had already received the LK DVD from you a while back- I've catalogued the videos that Brendan put up, and linked to them frm the main page- I think the earlier (1991?) show is GREAT musically especially for the energy of Hellspawn and Eat Nuns for Satan and Hey Freaks- It's also nice to see Tim on guitar, though Don't Trip Over Joe is pretty painful!! Of course the 1995 one is amazing as well, but maybe less energetic- so glad to get Mighty Knights, Blood&Pus, Evil Women and Rain in some quality video. Also the footage of Lelko shredding- very nice. I might have video of Jimmi Hendrix at Cattle of the Lands in my parents' house, but it's probably lost. Perhaps if I have some time I will add lyrics to "The Tv's BLown (up like a bomb)", Evil Women, and Let the Chords Be The Rhythm.. can't wait til the 2009 show, will definitely make it out for this one. PS I reclaimed a lot of the pre-1999 posts to this bulletin board, so enjoy reading that old stuff.
Hi everyone... Thanks Marc for cleaning up spam and adding the 'non-robot' clause. Also, thanks Brendan for adding these two LK video segments to google video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7707136336320998171 http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4051960265825300442 The earlier show is not as good musically as the later show...both are "historical". I cleaned out my closet recently and relocated all my tapes to a big plastic bin. There are literally about 30 Lenz-Krafterz tapes...most of them are rehearsals before Brian was in the habit of tuning his guitar...hard to listen to! I was going to try to catalog them but there's just not enough time. Fortunately most of our best stuff (our shows and recordings) are on this website. There is always the possibility of unearthing more good bits to listen to...I dig out the tapes every so often. I think it is too early to start talking about it yet, but we will probably have another show, in 2009. That is the desire, at least. Obviously, more details to come... --John
Do any recordings of "The TVs Blown" exist?
heya sorry about that, got pretty spammed out! hopefully it's all good now..
What has happened to this site?
Hey geeks.
Hey, I'm sorry to have to break this news to you guys, but I'm not in any (at least none that I'm aware of)'>' Was my only other posting really about money? Oh well. Also, is retarded guy the host of this sight?
German Director Werner Herzog encountered the random violence of nature he speaks of so often as he was shot by a crazed fan during a BBC interview. In classic Herzog fashion, the 63 year old director stated "Someone is shooting at us. We must go." The interview continued, however, as Herzog's pants became stained with blood. Herzog commented, "It was not a significant bullet. I am not afraid." http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/herzog%20shot%20during%20interview_03_02_2006
bunnies are lost can not be found must have stumbled underground
I learn you speak these things of burn and logic this website.
I just came here to pick up some links to .mp3 files to post on this nerdy forum that has a thread called "Post Odd and interesting mp3 links". After reading the past few posts, I realize, due to the distance I have with the whole band, and the whoel experience - it's been a long time since I've talked to any of you - or maybe due to something else, I now have the same reaction I had before I really knew you guys. I'll chat with some of my friends who knew all y'all and me at the time, and I find myself heartidly laughing again, chuckling, and just grinning at the absurdity of it all. Much as I did when I read the line about how you found the most retarded of all names possible. Perfect careless logic!!! Except now I'm old, and waxing poetic on the days of yore....all fond memories, but it is just as good, and even better, to look back at it, as it was to be "too much in the moment".....as much as I could have been in the moment back in those days. Ba Ha!!! thriled to read the oxen of pleasure may be in some . Fantastic news.
Hey guys. I remember at the drunken olympics, Brian Lelko was disgusted and repeatedly proclaimed that he was "not a whore." I was impressed at the time. Last time I talked to him, he said that he was riding his bike 10-20 miles a day and was in the best shape of his life. Last night while I was doing some internet research, I came across some featuring a blond woman and a swarthy man who, asside from being a little more fit than I remember him, looked exactly like Brian. He was wearing a hat that covered part of his face in the brief clip, so I can't be sure. But in a second clip from the same site that featured the same blond woman and another woman, you can hear the distinct sound of Brian "The Oxen of Pleasure" Lelko's voice saying, "make sure the door is locked." It seems just like Brian to make sure that he is recorded for posterity even in a clip that doesn't feature him. Has anyone heard of Brian going into the industry? I'll save the clips in case anyone would like to test their doubts. -- And I agree, John, the DVD is fantastic!
Wow, what a great post...thanks A. Madoff. It is crazy how people, although rare, STILL come up to me and talk about the Lenz-Krafterz. I walked into a party last year and a man immediately praised me for being in the Lenz-Krafterz, which was wierd because I didn't recognize him. After about 45 seconds I recalled who he was--Geoff Wallin, a good guy who saw the LK more than a few times. Last time I watched the DVD I was struck at how chaotic and punk we were. We were definately unique, and apparently made strong impressions on a handful of people. Whatever my own personal attachment or disattachment I desire with the LK, the fact is there are people out there like A. Madoff and Geoff Wallin who experienced us very strongly. New subject...the bitter tears are playing a lot in the next few months. please go to thebittertears.com NOW to see when/where the gigs are. I play piano of all things and I really enjoy it--I've been improving in the three years since I was graciously incorporated into the band, which technically belongs on a LK-band family tree. LK fill-in bassist Alan Scalpone (guitar, trumpet, bass clarinet) is half of the songwriting team, LK mega-fan Foster Lee plays drums, LK recording engineer for our last recording session, Greg Norman plays trombone and guitar, and Mike McGuinley is the other half of the songwriting and plays acoustic bass, mellophone, and violin...Mike was in many bands that shared the bill with the LK. Here's a slight bit of news--Eric, Brendan, Alan, and myself get togther a play old and new songs about twice a year. We decided Jimmi Hendrix was a moniker that was past its prime so we have a new name Baje (French, i.e. badge-ay). It was the most retarded name we could think of. Its the first letters of our names. Last time we got together was in May and it was very fun. We ended up playing about three "new" songs by Eric which included a rousing version of Light Bulb, one of his most upbeat, happy songs...a sister song to Endless Summer Day.
Suprised to come across this page while searching for new eyeglasses....I guess I was a generation behind as by the time I got NT, the Lenscrafters were being replaced with the hippies in "nothing rhymes with Bagina" and my buddies in "Donkey" (New Trier's top all-Jewish Death metal band)....However, I was cleaning out my crap accumulated at my parents house recently and came across a couple of interesting artsty-facts....One is a flyer that was thrown down the stairwell at NT in 1992 or 1993 announcing the "return of the Lenscrafters" at someone's house in Willmette...It has a picture of a woman with a large Paper Machee penis on it...I think Pete Kelly may have made it....I remember I was in a crappy band called "Vasectemy Surgeons" and we were one of the opening acts...but I could be wrong....We sucked, I think we played "wipe out" out of tune or something like that.... I also remember seeing the LK's at the "Wilmette Youth Center" (????) around 1992.... I was in 8th grade, wearing tights, had long hair and a Black Flag shirt....I think Cha-Chin Lee was in a band called "A Boy and his Dog" or maybe "A Dog and his Boy" and they opened the show..... Man, I was like 12 years old and this was my first rockn'roll show outside of the Everly Brothers at Ravina.....Now I am 26, thinning hair, tights don't fit anymore, I eat a LOT of cereal, and am trying to get a square job..... But I am getting married in August, so there is life after high school to look foward to......But maybe high school is life... after all it appears that the LenzKrafterz have quite a number of devotees as evidenced by this sight...Anyhow, here's hoping that one day "VH1" will be running a special on the LenzKrafterz and Lou Reed will be interviewed and mention how it was Pete Reagal and not Lamont Young that really influenced the Velvet Underground.....
yo i just reread all the posts here and wanted to respond to john's criticism of the lenzkrafterz withstanding the test of time-- the krafterz ouevre is unique. i dont think there are many lovecraft metal bands, much less ones that started when they were 14.. i think since you have been a musician for over a decade your view of what is good music is warped and snobby, er, refined with ideas about what is pop and what is good.. maybe it's because the music is from when i was 14 and into lovecraft, but when i listen to krafterz songs, i stomp my feet, dance, and sing along, and when i find myself with the special gem of having a conversation with someone who has been to a krafterz show, i savor it like a dark crystal- they were all (the ones i went to) stupendous displays of music, fire, and freak- from a bunch of kids trying to figure out what performance and punk is at pete's garage, to arguably the most fans present at the hemmingway church show singing along in the crowd like a hardcore crowd... poppy music, unforgettable shows, lyrics both ridiculing and heralding-- those are the virtues of the krafterz that keep their mp3s in my playlists. but can you dance to it??
Hey Krafterz people, check out this link: http://www.djoskar.com/louie.html
krafterz! john thanks so much for the dvd it is seriously great i especially like the segment of all of yall just sitting around shooting the shit and being hilarious- the NTN logo also brings me back to the fourth floor of NT (as opposed to that open locker in the wall-hole of the 3rd floor where we hid that book of re-admission slips and would smoke during lunch) if you do a 15 year anniversary show soon i should like to come out for it- the krafterz will always be an amazing band to me mostly because of the theatrics and catchy tunes and the hilarious skits but also because of the time we marched from pete's house to subway to demand art fitz-gerald's final paycheck.. i think i am moving to mexico for a little while, so everybody go out and vote! oh wait, too late, it's the day after election day- i live in california still so it didnt really matter that i wrote-in PETE REAGEL FOR PRESIDENT and of course nick banner for vice-- please look me up and crash on my floor if any of yall are in San Francisco anytime soon
Thank you for this awesome website!
The LK DVD is SOOO AWESOME!!! Thanks again to John and company. I will watch this over and over. Hurray for baby Krafterz! I will rip the four chapters of the DVD to quicktime or something and post them as soon as I am able, barring any potential copyright infringment issues of course... I don't want the MPAA suing me ;-P
By the way...the dvd is all ready to go. We copied 25 and I made the cover out of images from the videos. I'm really excited. I think everyone's going to like it. See you all soon, and if not, please write me if you want a copy...banks@core.com --John
megan--i cant seperate them out (why would you want to anyway)...but i will send you the whole thing.
Hey! Can I get a copy of the cable show only??? That's some funny stuff!!1 Also, I'm about to post a link up to the music section on the infranet somewhere. Glad to see this site is still up. John....can I get a copy of just the cable show???
YAY!!! AWESOMETASTIC!!! this is gonna be the best wedding ever!!!
awesome
The Lenz-Krafterz Video Anthology-Vol. 1 drops May 30, 2004...I will release it first at Eric's wedding, thn give out copies to the general fandom. If you want one, write me an e-mail. It includes a 1995 cable access performance, a 1992 documentary, and a 1991 cable access performance, clocking in at around 1:20 total. There is no commentary and no extra features. My brother Jim is responsible for 90% of the work assembling it, and gets extreme thanks. Mr. Robert Enkey also deserves thanks for digging up the 1995 tape. The rest of the thanks goes to various random people and more of the usual suspects...thank you if you know who you are...
any time greg, hope you're well
Brian Lelko saw Britney Spears the other day. He says she's bloated and ugly. I told him to shut up.
thanks john thanks also for the screw the wing nut and the bottle of water
Another bit of news, Jimmi Hendrix had our first rehearsal roughly ten years after our last performance, a few days after new years, 2004, in chicago. Unfortunately, Greg was not in town, but he was in Alaska the last two years of our heydey anyway (Greg, I made a tape for you, you can have it whenever you want). We played in a rehearsal space for two hours, almost all of our old songs, at least the ones we remembered (Parade, Song in E, Rockin, Drum solo-song after, Deerfield Place, Butterfly milkshake, etc) plus a "new" song Eric wrote about three or four years ago called "Wine and Dine." It was enjoyed by all, and we came up with a real new song, i guess titled the d-flat song. Now that Brendan is in Chicago, we may have more opportunities to cook up music, although Jimmi Hendrix is most likely not going to have any significant activity in the future.
yes, its true, jesus jim, you read this board more than I do!? The video comes from the 1995 new trier cable access performance. My goal is to give them out at Eric and Kristin's wedding.
John and I are finishing up a DVD of a 42-minute cable TV performance. Contact him for details.
Pete for President! What happened to the links to Pete's presidential speeches.
Hey, so does Brian get paid for this shit or not?
what is everyone listening to these days...favorite bands, music, etc??
I like how brians only post is "do I get paid for this shit?"
Brendan and Marc...thank you for restoring the LK site! I appreciate it, so does the band.
Awesome that the site is back up. Now we may triumphantly re-live the golden epochs once again.
The "unknown medical song" is a rehearsal version of Magic Show with improvised lyrics. No big mystery there.
I found this site on the New Trier site when seeking info about potential classmates who may or may not be going to our reunion. I have been listening to all of the mp3s, and I remember so many of them from back in high school. I got a kick out of Pete offering raisins for votes for president of the junior class- I remember that. If any of you are going to the 10 year reunion next week, I will see you there.
hey john, if you put mp3s up somewhere and mail me the url, i can snag them and host them here on this server for all to enjoy. if you want to send me a tape or CD or whatever, i can rip it to mp3 and upload it. i can email you my address.
I have been very slowly going through afew random tapes and hope to send more songs to post on the site. Marc...what is the best delivery method, mail, e-mail, upload, etc? So far all I have finished is a nice quality tape of Deerfield Place, a Jimmi Hendrix song. I may have Endless Summer Day soon. As I listen to old tapes (I've said this before), more and more perspective changes how our music sounds. My experience tells me we were a somewhat unique and truly interesting phenomenon...my ears however, tell me to turn off that god-awful crap! For Chrissake, Brian would it have killed you to tune once a century!? And for me...I'm no drumming saint either. The reuniom show on the other hand, illustrated the best of both worlds (improved ears and musicianship, and primal punk energy). I look forward to another chapter. Eric--we should hand out business cards with the website adress at the NT reunion. Brian (or Danny) what is your contact info? -John
Sam Pellus: Great comment earlier where you noted as follows: "How could a child Identify with the pain and arrogance of the world?...A child does not sing when in pain. Only musicians like Jim Morrison do. If indeed the child does feel the pain and arrogance of the world,.... she will cry,.. not sing."
Rain, I love you.... Rain, I do!!!! Lenz Krafterz rule all. As it is, as it was, and as it shall ever be. Praise be to Cthulhu. Cthulhu for president!!!!!!!!
kewl
yo fixed it dmitri sorry about that i never met you and i found your name written on the bottom of an old shoe of mine.. my urine made the end of your name rub off :( :(.
Dmitri, great to see a post from you.
Whatever punk set up this site misspelled my name. I am Dmitri Cornellier the original guitarist of The LenzKrafterz; it is not Dmitri Cornellius or whatever you put. Please set this straight for the sake of posterity. Hi to all those from the old days, btw. later
I got The Oxen's # in Portland... for others who are having trouble making contact...
Stick it in
You all think hollywood is gonna come in and make you famous
okay i just added a bunch of mp3s from my Krafterz "Anthology" tape.. does anybody (john?) know the name of that weird medical song? I added lyrics in the lyrics section to help with identifying it. also there is an unknown song, recorded from Yoghurt, from the Anthology tape- any hints on what that song is?? Check out the weird underwater version of hey freaks frm yoghurt, it fucking rules.. sorry about the recording quality, it's the best i could do with an 8th generation tape that has been sitting around for 10 years.
Seriously, was there ever a better band than the Lenz Krafterz? Not a rhetorical question.
Was there ever a better band Lenz Krafterz?
Yeah, that address has been worthless of late. I have his password 'cause I made the account and I know he hasn't been checking it. He gets lots of junk mail so maybe he's afraid to see what his inbox looks like after so long. -- if you're out there Brian, I deleted about 3/4 of your unread mail for you -- What are friends for? So if anyone has a physical address or phone number for Brian, that's what I'm looking for.
as of december 22, 2000, lelko's contact address is "lelko@yahoo.com" (he posted on this BBS).. recent addresses for any of the krafterz are on the front page, and any krafterz related people addresses are on the "old guard" page. does goat milk really taste like goats??
Oh yeah, does anyone have any contact info for The Oxen of Pleasure? I lost him somewhere in Portland. BTW, sexy doesn't really equal nice. I was just saying that. Sorry.
I have received to suspicious e-mails in the past few days. The first was from DWS04556@aol.com and the subject was "Figment of some losers [sic] imagination. Who are you". There was no text and no attachment. I replied to the e-mail and the apparent sender wrote back to say that someone was obviously using his address fraudulently. He cancelled the account immediately. The second e-mail was from kaley-2994 (not at aol but the address is probably still active) with the subject line "Lenzkrafterz page". Again, no text, no attachment. I assume it would be pointless to reply and ask Kaley who she is and why she's writing me. Then again, she might deserve to know that someone else is at least pretending to send e-mail from her address, if not really doing so. For those who aren't intimately familiar with this message board, "figment of some losers imagination" is, with the exception of the missing apostrophe, a direct quote from an anonymous entry and is quoted in a subsequent entry by a different anonymous poster. It's a mystery to me. Anyone have any clues???
Marc- awesome new stuff here.... the name of the Schriver song is: Adolescence / Eternal Armageddon
new mp3s.. lenzkrafterz family @ prism in 1991.. does anyone remember the name of the Emily Schriver Song???
yo everyone check out the jimmi hendrix live on yoghurt mp3s on the main page.. sorry about the recording quality, hope you enjoy the old WNTH PSAs and dan smith's spot-on pauly shore impression
I am the founding member of The Stoatriders Appreciation Society. We had a sizeable membership, and still do. Recently our activities have been transporting Southerners into Canada as part of the Overground Railroad. The Stoatriders were NOT a ripoff. They were doing their own thing, and if you listen to The Goblin Song,.... it's actually interesting. Especially considering they were something like 14 years old at the time when it was performed.
i like the stoatriders, sorry to hear about pops, glad that brendan set up lenzkrafterz.com to point to here..
oh and john - even though i've been a right bastard in the past you can mail me the tapes to archive/convert to mp3. shoot me an email or something or yeah.
well i think the stoatriders, while not nearly as prolific, were a foundation of the early lk fanbase-- a stone pinnacle in homage to the lk greatness; rip-offs, i don't think so. influenced by lk, definitely. goblin song doesn't even resemble any lk songs that i can think of, except maybe captain leather... but one should realize that the music of goblin song was composed nearly 3 years prior to stoatriders and lk even forming in the first place.
Does anyone else think that the Stoatriders are a flagrant, shameless rip-off--in style and in substance--of the LenzKrafterz? "Goblin Song" is a particularly transparent knock-off. Who are these charlatans?
Hey! I haven't been following this stuff for awhile. I think I could send a few mp3s of archival LK stuff to have for display on a LK site...but where should I send them? A lot of our stuff, as I've discovered when I pull out the old tapes, doesn't hold up that well over time. Old tapes have the potential to mar all our memories by replacing them with horribly out-of-tune distorted, meandering shit-songs. Then again, the more rabid fans, which most of you probably are, would cream over that, so I guess it without the LK. My first gig there was with my girlfriend at the time, Susanna Hollywood, in 1997. I played there about six or so times, and used to hang out and play pool. Another archivist note...lets see...allright here it is (I'm not too prepared right now and i feel like I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel with this one)--among the titles of songs which existed but are on the verge of being forgotten forever is one called "Winnetka Beach". Eric brought it up recently, and I don't know if it was ever recorded. Eric, now that I think of it, I think it was a Clorox and the Bleaches song. In that case, I never was privy to that tape. You guys recorded a few tapes without me, I'm assuming Brian would be the closest person to them, if they still exist. That would be a whole subchapter in itself--the LK splinter groups, The Ragamuffins (I THINK that was Brian's band's name, not sure) and Clorox and the Bleaches. What was up with THAT? Why were there splinter bands being formed?! Eric, Brian, Pete, any relections?? Until next time--JL
my favorite line on this board is "non-existent figment of some loser's imagination"... very evocative
awesome
HEY you F****** FREAKS email addresses at lenzkrafterz.com available for the coolios. also, webspace on my server. right now i'm just redirecting the www to this site, but if krafterz feel like putting together an archive of all their sheehat or personal webpages etc; i'm game. write me at ba@brendanavery.com and to everyone who has written me and i haven't written back -- um -- shit. i suck. please try again. i will write back.
okay evolution.com is GOING AWAY AND DYING so there will be a new website i will update everyone with the info-- also brendan is okay i saw him in july, he just hasnt been updating his webpage.. if anyone needs his cell fone # or something just send me mail. i hope some of you read this before evolution goes away.. i just saw jimmy kuykendall and alan scalpone last week in chicago which was rad.. driving around the country right now, see yall around.. danny i will email you for a drink in austin - eric, my email address is marc@rotten.com
I couldn't resist posting here...I was testing a Web metasearch engine my company developed and using it to look up old grade school classmates--and lo and behold I find not only Alan Scalpone and Art Fitzgerald are still out and about, but the LenzKrafterz are still offending people nationwide. Hats off to you all, and I wish you the best!
Hey freaks. Wake up. Some things are more important than international terrorism and all out war. & Nice = Sexy.
Howdy. I remember Steve-o's garage. I think there were a few more people present than mentioned. Anyhow, I had a few concerns I wanted to mention. First, I think that hey freaks is best when Brian is using the WhaWha (sp?) peddel (sp?). Also, does anyone know what's up with Brendan these days? I hope everything's all right. It seems that all internet avenues of contact with Brendan have disolved, except for a brief static message requesting large amounts of money. BTW: If LK ever desire to play Austin, I'll (do my best to) find a venue and provide sleeping accomodations/entertainment/advertisement/any additional support for the band and all guests. Actually, no concert would be required to receive those benefits. Sexy = Nice.
Hey, Marc. What's your e-mail address these days? I want to contact you.
do bunnys realy eat meat?
thanks for keeping the lenzkrafterz alive, keep in touch guys. nate
hey- still trying to check this page out...at least john is keeping us die hard fans updated. :-)
pete king of the chainsaw? see i've seen him fuck around with an axe before and even once or twice with a fishing pole, but never with a chainsaw. then again he never let me listen to the lenzkrafterz because, said he, those sounds weren't made for my unholy french ears. pete, really. next time you fell a tree somewhere in chicago, let me know.
Hey Tyler! I thought you were some non-existent figment of some loser's imagination! What gives?
This so-called band wears uncool clothes and has out of date hair styles.
i sure have taken my sorry ass time with everything. apologies to anyone who has known me in the last couple of years with respect to my endless slack. but the LK do have an official mp3.com page now. am trying to find the rest of the mp3s and they should be uploaded shortly. LK members contact me for login info if you'd like to be administrators for the site. happy new year all
Hey! The LK played a very small and disjointed set on New Year's Eve 2000-2001. Actually, it was not the LK, but John, Eric and Pete. Pete and I were very distinctly opposed to the idea of a fake LK performance. However, At the last minute, Eric swayed us and we played The Mighty Knights and Dark Young and Rain, with Alan Scalpone on broken-string guitar. Brian, I'm sorry--when Jimmy asked me to play Krafterz I told him "No!" and when he asked Pete, Pete said "No!" I feel guilty about a Lenz-Krafterz performance without you. I hope you aren't mad or anything. We played at a party at Jimmy Kuychendal's. Also, Eric originally was against playing, but the excitement of the moment got to us at midnight. We were set up because of a Jimmi Hendrix-type reunion. Brendan--We played The Song In E, The Parade Song, The Rockin' Song, and Endless Summer Day. I hope you aren't offended. No one was on bass, so no one replaced you. Also performing at the party was a group comprised of John Leonard, Adam Zastrow, Alan Scalpone, Mike McGuinley and Josh Bartholomew. The group was called "Joshua Morisson" and performed Light My Fire, Riders On The Storm, Roadhouse Blues, and When The Music's Over (not in that order). The thrust of the performance was simply that Josh was the lead singer. The highlight was when an extremely drunk Bartholomew yelled "You wanna see my cock!?" and Abby Boyer ran up to him with her hand out, saying "No! No!" I'm going to be getting a CD burner and will hopefully be able to provide CD copies of LK or Jimmi Hendrix material soon. Let me know if there's any requests. My new e-mail is banks@core.com.
hey,do I get paid for this shit?
I want neocool, please. Thanks.
Losers!
who the hell works at totalvideo.com?
by the way, www,thewhiteface.com does not exist. I wish I could "check it out", but, gee, I can't.
hey, what happened to this site? It used to be so awesome and now the links need to be updated and it SUCKS! blah.
www.thewhiteface.com oops
if you are still alive...check this out.
sorry for having site down for so long-guh. i was trying to bite off more than i could chew -- i'm sooo close to having everything ready, but stupid sh~t like work and breathing gets in the way of my masterpiece. DAMN.
Everyone should go to Brendan's site!
Will be adding a reviews feature to the B][A music system, shortly. In the meantime, y'all can enjoy the LK tunes again. Note that the 10 year reunion show has it's own link (lower left side of page in links box.)
I'd just like to say that they shouldn't let me near a computer when I haven't slept a wink in three days. Looking forward to crashing hard in one hour...
click da link for the info thread. it basically came down to them not communicating and shutting down my site without explanation until i threw a tantrum and then they didn't necessarily apologize because i was being a real dick so they'd fix the problem. now that it's not what i THOUGHT it was, i think it's safe to continue for the while. that place has so many problems though... but that's no reason not to sell krafterz cd's by the millions!
They fucked you over? What happened?
problems with mp3.com -- they fucked me over -- still doing riffage.com krafterz site -- one more day...
sup everybody. firstly -- big apologies to the krafterz and fans alike for dropping the page -- moved all my stuff to a new machine and yadda yadda yadda -- got caught up in a new program, got a new job, got a bunch of stuff which took me away from the prime goal -- but now am back and together enough -- have slated Monday night as get the Krafterz online night. Will not only be rebuilding the Lenz-Krafterz site at http://mediahorse.com/lenzkrafterz, but will also be creating their pages at mp3.com and riffage.com. Also - I've been sorely negligent in my duties to reply to both John and Eric via email, which I will do in the morning when I get back to my computer (it's currently relocated to my new contract job's office at http://www.visionent.com) So much to tell, it will all be on the website shortly, have no fear. Right now I'm running down to my car to get FTP info for my poor off-site computer. I promise that if anybody sends me email I will reply the second I get it. And stuff. Etcetera. You get the picture. Peace. --B][A
Hi! First, as archivist, I've neglected to reveal an unknown LK song for some time. Many of you probably know of this already, but ther is a tape of us practicing "My Girl"--you know, the old Motown song...? It's kind of funny. We play the verse in a sarcastic fasion and when the chorus hits, the band gets loud and brian screams dorogatory stuff about "his girl" like "she does it with dogs! She does it with dogs and giraffes!" Anyway, I have some news! Art Fitz-Gerald chose the LK as his "pick of the month" at the bookstore where he works in Savoy, IL (Pages For All Ages). Because of this, his boss wanted a tape of ours in case anyone asked for a LK product. In response to this, I put together a tape called "Live From the Archive" which has a track listing of: 1. Intro / 2. Dark young / 3. Gonorrhea God / 4. Hey Freaks / 5. Hell Spawn / 6. (The President's Dead) / 7. I'm Sad / 8. The Bunnies Trilogy / 9. Dark Young (reprise) // 1-5 are from the 12/18/93 Evanston church show, and 6-9 are fron the reunion show. The packaging is very plain, and I doubt any will sell, but for historical value it may be the first time our stuff has been commercially for sale. Another bit of news is that out of the blue, I called Robert Enkey at New Trier and asked him if any of our old video tapes were still around. It turns out there are two (presumably both of our shoots) and he is running a copy off of each one. One of them is an hour long. This is good news because the secong shoot we did (in summer of '93?) I had believed might have been lost forever. Rock On! There is one more bit of info: Jimmi Hendrix might rehearse the Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day. In fact, I might try to get a gig at Pop's for this wednesday, but the chances and the desire and motivation of me and the other band members is a lot more scattered than the LK reunion project. Any feedback from those directly involved should be e-mailed to me or posted on this board, ok? --John L.
Hey, check out Brendan's new website!
i want to know more about these phenominons.
By the way, I've been reading over some old postings and I've now become convinced that Tyler Zapton is in fact a non-existent figment of some losers imagination. I wish I new that back in high school.
Sam, I'm not sure that your most recent installment supports Indiana's argument. In fact, you seem to be telling him, "No! The pain/arrogance of music isn't, can't be, the daddy's little girl crying out! Daddy's little girls know nothing of pain and arrogance!". If there is a daddy's little girl suffering within Jim Morrison or Claude Debussy or some such musician, she wouldn't turn to music to express that. She's just cry." Have I got you right?................................. A few thoughts in support of Indiana's argument. There is a distinction to be made between the daddy's little girl in "reality" and the daddy's little girl archetype that exists in all of us. True, the actual 7-year-old daddy's little girl does not sing, but cries, when she is in pain. But the daddy's little girl that remains in Morrison or Debussy is of a different sort. Maybe at one time her head was like a flower floating in the wind, but she has since been battered and abused by the world. Indiana was hoping to convince you that the pain and arrogance you detected in "music in general" IS in fact the disguised voice of the daddy's little girl. If my initial argument was flawed, it was because of my assumption that if there was a daddy's little girl in you, you would necessarilyidentify with or at least have compassion for the daddy's little girl crying out in the music of others............................... As an aside, it also seems to me that you are idealizing the mentality of children. I think a child CAN identify with the pain and arrogance of the world or is at least vaguely aware of it................................. You also seem to be differentiating between various types of music now. The child's song, for you, does not arrogantly demand that others hear it's pain, but classical and "music in general" does. Would that also include, for instance, the music of, say, Brittany Spears? I'm not sure that she's been feasting on the dead dog in the same way that Jim Morrison might have been. I'd love to hear you argue that case, though.
btw, Kristen,.. I think that Indianas argument does hold some water. The daddys little girl in us does not sing out in pain or arrogance. Like Morrison says,.. a child is like a flower,... his head floating in the wind,.. or something like that. How could a child Identify with the pain and arrogance of the world?...A child does not sing when in pain. Only musicians like Jim Morrison do. If indeed the child does feel the pain and arrogance of the world,.... she will cry,.. not sing.
kristen and indiana,... okay,.. I've been thinking about it,..... when I think of the truth,.... I think of the body of a dying dog lying on its side. The songwriter bites in and feeds,.... the contents enter his stomach. The acids of the stomach reduce the contents,.. make them more digestable. The songwriter vomits. And there you have music.
wow. the reprise of dark young is *amazing*. alan's bass is crazy! definitely one of my favorite LK songs. i'll post more thoughts on the entire set list later- wish y'all had played eat nuns for satan.
I know that everyone's been hankering to see some more photos from the reunion concert, so I've put the final batch on my web site (http://php.indiana.edu/~krawagne/pictures.html). The page has gotten rather unruly, so when I have more time, I may break it off onto a separate page with an index and (gasp!) maybe even some formatting. If anyone has narrative material that they'd like to use to complement the images (concert reviews, manifestos, nostalgic musings, elaborations on your hopes and fears pertaining to the lenzkrafterz), please email them to me and I'll get to work.
Mark: Next time you update, Carlos O.'s e-mail is: rubberneck99@hotmail.com
Indiana, that argument holds water *only* if you buy into the notion of the "daddy's-little-girl in all of us." We are all well aware of the incendiary nature of Art Fitzgerald's axiom. IF indeed there is a daddy's little girl in ALL of us THEN it would follow that there IS a daddy's-little-girl in Samqpellus THEREFORE he would likely identify with the pain/arrogance of music rather than feel that it is an oppressive, heavy-handed, bullying force. Samqpellus, I'm curious, is it just music or do other fine arts have the same effect for you? What about literature? What about the LenzKrafterz?
Sam, have mercy. It's just the daddy's-little-girl in all of us, crying out...Here's a hand of clay, and an electric torch to light your path between the clouds...
Sam, have mercy. It's just the daddy's-little-girl in all of us, crying out...Here's a hand of clay, and an electric torch to light your path between the clouds...
classical music is crap,... plop fizz,.. music in general sucks too,... it is just people trying to force their ideas on you. To make you understand their pain and arrogance. I'd rather have a handful of clay.
Brendan, great work on the websites!!!
Brendan, great work on the websites!!!
hey everyone, check out the brand spankin' new official website for one of my current band projects, called "TV" -- and download the preview version of "Who Killed Noam Chomsky?" i would like to do a cover of Krafterz' "the TV is Blown" but I will need a recording (quality of recording unimportant) to do it properly...
got one half of the 10 year show encoded in mp3 format. (sorry for the delay everyone -- lots of annoyances popped up this week...) /////////// hey john - i don't think classical is crap at all; you forget my mom's an opera singer so i kinda grew up on the stuff. looking forward to the debussy mix! +everything else. major thanks for the 10 year reunion tape too-- louie y'all gots ta hear louie louie!!!!! the sound quality on all songs is pretty good. how was the recording done? was it house engineers or did you just bring a stereo recorder on stage?
Brendan--Eric told me to send you a tape of Jimmi Hendrix stuff to fill out your collection in case you were going to post any of it on a web site. Do you want me to do this? I will try to put a tape together, but it may take a little bit of time. I already made a tape for you, but its not Lenz-Krafterz related at all. I just didn't want you to get it and think to yourself "why is he sending me this?" The Lenz-Krafterz related stuff may arrive in the future. By the way, the tape is made up of random stuff that you might like and I'm also sending a Debussy CD that I edited from my collection of recordings. If you are not familiar with Debussy than you must get aquainted...enough of that classical crap. (Disclaimer: classical is not crap).
just wanted to say sorry i haven't been able to transfer the tape to digital yet -- i'm plugging in the machine tonight and will start about 10pm... so hopefully they will all be available tomorrow.
bink h, danielle m, jeremy, nathan, jimmy K, greg s, kara c, abby b, joshua b, arthur r, kristen, and some other people I do not feel like talking about cause I'm already pissed off enough about my boss,....
hey who else was at the show? can any fans post a review! how many people showed up? dying for details til the mp3s are up- thanks brendan!
IT ROCKS. I'm going to be converting it to mp3's this weekend. Stay toooned. THANKS, JOHN! I loved Louie Louie! The President's Dead was cool too. Actually everything was cool. ROCK AND ROLL FREAKS
Brendan: What do you think of the Krafterz concert tape???
☻ ☺ We ♥ LenzKrafterz!
hey guys, i just read my lats message and the format is a lot different than how I typed it--I hope its not too annoying
Hi everyone! I'm in the middle of searching for a job and have not had much time to spend on the LK. I have, however, sent Brendan, Eric, Pete, Alan, Tim K., and Brian a tape of the show. The set list for the show is as follows: SET 1: DARK YOUNG HEY FREAKS (THE PRESIDENT'S DEAD SKIT) I'M SAD (PETE CALLS "NOTHING RHYMES WITH ORANGE") GONNORHEA GOD EVIL WOMEN (WHO KILL PEOPLE) LOUIE, LOUIE THE MIGHTY KNIGHTS (WHEN WE GET TO EGYPT SKIT) BLOOD AND PUSS MAN ----------------------- SET 2: HELL SPAWN ANARCHY AT NEW TRIER LET THE CHORDS BE THE RYTHYM ARTHUR RYZAK FREAK OUT YOU GOTTA GIVE LOVE MIKE AND ALISON AGAINST THE WORLD THE GREATEST HIGH SCHOOL BAND (ASK-A-KRAFTER Q&A SESSION) THE TV IS BLOWN THE BUNNIES TRILOGY(BUNNIES 2 SUNG IN GERMAN) DARK YOUNG (REPRISE) ENDLESS SUMMER DAY (ERIC SOLO) ---THE TAPE ENDS 1/3 THRU E.S.D.--- ENCORE #1:ADOLESCENCE-ETERNAL ARMOGGEDAN ENCORE #2:EAT NUNS FOR SATAN SECOND "ASK-A-KRAFTER" SESSION -------------------------------- In my opinion, the show's energy was not up to its potential. The band was not a tight unit. Rather, we were placed together by default, without having 100% familiarity with ourselves as a band. The Lenz-Krafterz seemed a little fake to me, because I did not feel as much of a connection to them as I have in the past. Josh Bartholomew told me that he felt like 15 again seeing us, so it seems we made a strong impression on the crowd. I was thanked by several people for putting the show together. To that I say, "thank you" for coming. It was fun. We rocked. It was the first time in a long time I got to play drums with utter freedom, as opposed to with a band leader. By the way, check out MP3.com and look for Chris Parsley. I play any drums you might hear in his songs (Brendan, I'm making a mix for you of random stuff and I'm including his stuff; you might like it). I am looking forward to any and all future opportunities to play music with LK or JH or related projects. I said I would talk about the LK archives in my messages. Here's something for you all, since we're on the subject of reunions. The Lenz-Krafterz last show before August 28th was only a year before that, in the Summer of '98! Perhaps it is the least-known LK show, in contrast to the Pop's show which is pretty well-known. Where were all of you in '98?!! Doesn't anyone remember Steve-o's garage?...no, because the only people who were there were Dan Hallum, Ginger, her daughter and her boyfriend, I think Kara Cobb was there (Eric, help me out), maybe Ryan Currie and/or Nate Shuttleworth. Anyway, the point is that NO ONE came to see an AWSOME show with all the energy that the '99 show might have lacked. Actually, despite all I say about lack of energy, I still think it rocked, and I am not trying to put the show down. I will probably receive many arguements on the subject. That is all I have to say about the Ten Year Reunion now. Look for more, more pictures on Kristin's website, which I will mail to her the week of sep. 20. -John L.
of course I want one 2... I should be in Chicago ~Thanksgiving if any Krafterz is out there and wants ta hook-up. Brendan Avery c/o Mediahorse 10780 Santa Monica Blvd. Suite 408 Los Angeles, CA 90025 Mail away -- I'll reimburse postage to anyone who sends me anything.
Sure Marc, no prob...we'll get one out to you...
eric! send me one! the address: marc powell c/o San Francisco, CA 94103 thanks! marc
I just got a copy of the Lenz Krafterz 10 year concert tape from John and it's totally awesome, great quality...You all must get one, just post your interest on this message board, and we'll try to get you one...
I'm astonished! Yes, he's right, on both counts. I've already emailed him with prize info. You realize, of course, that this is just another coming sign of the apocolypse.
Hey Jim, he's right. Give him the prize!
jim, you wrote "the tv's blown" - up like a bomb! also you were affiliated with the demo group "HORNET" :) now where's my prize?
I just have to say that this has got to be one of the most odd phenominons I have ever witnessed in my entire life. You guys never got to see The Real Story, like when the police came to our house because they were practicing outside and it was *loud*, or when John hung assorted metal items (not all of them musical in nature) from the pipes in our basement to use for various twisted percussion needs. Yes, I'm John's brother. Trivia for the day: Which LK song did I author? Answer correctly and win a prize, beeyatch!
Yes, I managed accidently to cut and paste the URL twice in a row. One more try: follow the link above or go to: http://php.indiana.edu/~krawagne/pictures.html More photos should be up in the next week or so, hopefully of higher quality.
woops,.. maybe that was obvious to you all.... I didn't realize the same address was listed twice in a row
Okay,... I checked that URL out kristin,.... the modified one doesn't work on this computer,. but I deleted some of the stuff at the end of it and it worked. It is as follows. '<''<''<''<'Photos of the concert can be viewed here'>''>''>''>' http://php.indiana.edu/~krawagne/pictures.html
Woops--I guess HTML tags don't work on this bulletin board. Here's the URL, one more time: http://php.indiana.edu/~krawagne/pictures.html http://php.indiana.edu/~krawagne/pictures.html
Brendan, Marc, Other Interested Parties and/or Hangers-on: Some photos from the LenzKrafterz reunion concert are available at my web site. More images will follow (once natalie sends them my way!), and I will post them as time permits. Feel free to pilfer/alter/adulterate the images as you please. You can find them at '<'A HREF="http://php.indiana.edu/~krawagne/pictures.html"'>'http://php.indiana.edu/~krawagne/pictures.html'<'/A'>'. Scroll down past my personal photos and you'll find a small section dedicated to the concert.
Yeah, who knows the lyrics to Mike and Allison??? Pete?
Things Made in Cities is a great song. Also,.. could someone post the lyrics to Mike and Allison?,...
I've been really busy, but hopefully next week I'll send out some tapes of the show and post the set list on the web site. Sorry for now...
As far as I'm concerned, Marc's is the defacto official as it is the longest running and oldest LK site. Now, the first to put up a dedicated "www.lenzkrafterz.com" site... that will become defacto official as that is just the way it is. So let it be written...
Brendan, your Krafterz page is great, but how is the determination made of which page is truly OFFICIAL??? And to answer your question, I believe the Krafterz reunion was in lieu of Steve-O-stock....
We need to get Krafterz onto this list. Time to write letters everybody.
Just wanted y'all to know that the LK mp3's are officially up on my new official official LK page at: http://www.mediahorse.com/lenzkrafterz.
Damn it. Of course I couldn't make it to Chicago. Lame lame lame. Hey Tyler, can I borrow a few K$? Hey Megan, that picture of you looks pretty twisted. Are you on crack? Long time no whats up? Howdy. Did the Krafterz play Steve-O-stock, or was it somewhere else? Anyone see Steve-O-stock?
oh my god. i can't believe i missed it- i ignore the bulletin board for a week and look what i miss out on- if yall send me pictures or recordings, i will put them up on this site.. my mailing address: Marc Powell c/o San Francisco, CA, 94103 - i can digitize video/audio and pictures. SEND SEND SEND! if pictures have been scanned in already, email them to me (or their URLs) and i will pop em up. Long Live Violence.
Also, there were many pictures taken. Maybe we'll post some on this site. What do you think, RG? And SamQ, thanks!
Everyone, thanks for coming. It was all a huge success. Anybody who's interested in a tape of the show, leave a note on this message board and we'll try to get one to you...
Hi,.. good show guys
Hey tyler: About your ferari: did your dad let you pick out the color at least?
dude!!!!!!! Sorry I couldn't make it...but if you hook a phone up to the p.a. i could play via telephone line...i'll just have to know the notes of the songs before you play it. congrats on this homepage: i just looked it up on a whim, didn't think i'd find anything. ...check out a picture of me at www.futureone.com~meat click on the red flashing link in the first paragraph. this is actually chat's webpage. ok. i feel like a schoolgirl with all this re-union buzz. if you ever go on tour in california...let me know! megan
Alright, tomarrow's the day. Any last minute questions or comments should be directed to this bulletin board. It appears that there will be many surprise guests in the audience...
I think he will be there.
my mom reported to me the other day that she's encountered lenz krafterz publicity at such important glencoe hotspots as deejay's and parkway drugs. she seems intrigued to enter the death-womb, but, unfortunately, the gig conflicts with the tony bennett concert at ravinia.
i just finished taking my first step into this delightful site and I wanted to congratulate all of you on your hard work and determination. At first I wasn't sure if rape fantasy was for me and you guys really helped show me the way. LenzKrarterz/Tom Waits-same weekend, I believe something might explode somewhere. Looking forward to seeing everyone there. We'd have a Dog and His Boy Reunion show but we decided that it would be a little tacky and shameful because most of our fans now live and work in prison including our drummer, who is actually caught up somewhere in a Madagascar jail and I think our toy guitar player is married and making sound effects for computer games. I'm pretty busy trying to see how much money I can spend without having any income and it takes up most of my time. I think I better go, there is a knock at my door, the Viper/Bible Salesman is here, there slogan is, "You won't die in this 80,000 $ dollar car because your salesman is a priest and theres 15 bibles in the trunk. I might buy one so I can pull up in front of Pops and show everyone that A Dog and His Boy still has a little shout left in them, even if its a pathetic whimper amplified through the Karoke machine speaker this car probably has under the glove compartment. See you all there Saturday.
I've been thinking about "Blown Away"... Its not the spectacular song I thought it was. However, Eric- try to practice it up for a minute or something in Indiana. I'm just saying that we might cut it from the set, though. A few of our songs are indeed weak, but not too many people notice or care. i.e. the Emily Schriver song. Its weak. Hey! I really want to play Mike & Allison!! Make sure you can go through the chords and show Alan and Brian. Art Ryzak: Are You Coming??? I gave a postcard to your dad.
So who's going to the concert??? Expect big crowds. Also, we intend to heavily publicize this website at the concert.
Somebody should post the lyrics to "Evil Women"...
Good-day ye fans and foes. Once again we make ready our return, again marked by the traveling Lelko. I'd thought the cords were the rythem, but I'll be damned if I rip up that pretty calico with the blue bow on its twin-tail. I dont rightly recolect Mike and Allison 2, but that doesnt mean it wasnt so. rock on-and-off-and on agian. A nor-easteer'll swaps us stright-back ta' Hell. farewell, little tear-drop.
I forgot to disclose another rare Lenz-Krafterz song. Here's another one: "When You Die You Die". It was performed live once, at Beloit college in the late Fall of '92 I believe. It was recorded on tape, but the tape ran out halfway through. The tape has enough of it where its not lost forever, but its frustrating to listen to. The Archivist has thrown you insolent grovelers another crumb to salivate on!
This is great news about the reunion concert. There will be no cover charge, and of course all fans are invited and encouraged to attend!!!
It looks like the location problem was solved: The Lenz-Krafterz will be playing Saturday, August 28th at 10:30 p.m. at Pop's On Chicago, 2053 W. Chicago Avenue (one block west of Damen on the so. side of the street). I am very excited for one. I plan to play book as drums a-la the old days, for an encore. I also have been organizing the Lenz-Krafterz in an effort to put on a very good show. I would like to bring back old gems, like "Arthur Ryzak" "Adolescence-Eternal Armogeddon" and "Don't Trip Over Joe" and "Blown Away". Pete has mentioned a suprise alternate version of "Bunnies II". All and all, it will be a bonanza! Enter the Death-Womb...
Hey, I just got the following e-mail from Grimstalker: "I heard from John, on my answering machine, that he was getting us a gig at a Chicago bar called "Pops" on Saturday 28. I have not spoken with him, but he said I should email you. I dont know any of the details, Im not sure if John was planning this in place of Steveo-stock, after Steveo-stock or what. Howeling furry stalks the knight, He is "blood and pus man" He is out of sight. rock on...:
Pete's?
I might have spoke too soon about the show being at Greg Norman's house. In fact--does anyone have any ideas for a location??
The animals and I await the Lenz Krafterz reunion with bated breath and fin-de-siècle anxiety.
The Lenz-Krafterz show will most likely be August 28, at Greg Norman's house. Performing will be the Lenz-Krafterz with Alan Scalpone, and other bands. This is the first time I've visited the Lenz-Krafterz home page. I have to say its quite insane. I AM THE LENZ-KRAFTERZ ARCHIVIST-I HAVE TWO MILK CRATES OF TAPES! BOW TO ME! I have to say, some of you are doing a pretty good job without me, though. NOW HEAR THIS! There are many songs that you don't know about. Every time I visit this site I'll disclose one. The first entry is: "Can't You See There Is No God" --it was never performed live, but there is a tape of Pete, John & Eric rehearsing it. Whoever's in charge of this thing should e-mail me. I only check my e-mail about 5 times a month, though. I told a friend that I "scratch my ass more than I use a computer." I wouldn't want to see your asses if that phrase was true for some of you computer freaks.--John
My email server was down one weekend, but you should all be able to email me w/o problem now. Update: Album "Hey, Freaks!" has sold 3 copies- 1 to New York, 1 to North Carolina, 1 to United Kingdom! The plague is spreading...
Grimstalker remiunded me: the upcoming reunion will mark the 10th anniversery of the founding of the band. Hard to belive...Samq: the concert will be at Greg's house on the South Side...(spread the word)
also,. why don't you list the lyrics to let the chords be the rhythm?
hello sam ellus- PELLUS. try sending email now to map@evolution.com- i've never heard algebra 114! send me lyrics or a tape..
just chill,.... and let the chords be the rhythm brendan
anyways,... I've tried sending both marc and brendan emails but it doesn't seem to work,.... so eat nuns for satan,... when and where is the reunion supposed to take place? btw... Algebra 114 is missing from the song list,... it's an instrumental,.... to whom it may concern
KRAFTERZ REUNION!!! Probably on last weekend of the month...stay tuned...
Look, you non-Ferrari Testosterosa driving anti-freak fuckin' freak, don't make me tool your ass with my ninja powers! "Tyler Zapton," nice fucking name! You're my hero! NOT.
You just called me a non-existent figment of some losers imagination. Who are you talking to? Me? I thought I didn't exist. I drive a Ferrari, loser.
Hey Tyler, I tried to send you email you fucking non-existent piece of bull-shit figment of some loser's imagination. Get REAL or get lost. ------------ I had a car like yours once, but the gumball came out first! That's what I think!
You wish fag
????????? The phrase from Eat Nuns for Satan is "rip up cats." No squirrel has ever been ripped up in the name of the Lenzkrafterz -- except perhaps that one squirrel Pete danced with and all the maggots fell out, but it was dead to begin with. And congratulations on the Ferrari! Maybe some day you can come drive it on my new island, Honolulu. We're breeding dinosaurs there now. Actually, that's not true, we're breeding the dinos in labs on my underground moon-base and then teleporting them to Honolulu, but that's more of a technicality. --- BTW: Brendan's now selling a crappy 11 song CD at mp3.com with Hey Freaks '95 cover tune. All proceeds are currently slated to support more Lenzkrafterz collaborations, shows, websites, and sh~t.
You fucking freaks.... You ripped up squirrels. Grow up. I own a Ferrari.
Hey, maybe another KRAFTERZ REUNION!!! Stay tuned!
Am I the only former LK-Family member with a site on MP3.com? -- it doesn't seem right. And is Eric the only one with a web-page at all? This is pathetic dammit. Lenzkrafterz better get they asses into cyberspace or I'm gonna hafta knock in some teeth, Captain Leather-style.
Throw darts at the spaz out on your lawn!!!
PS I like "A Dog and His Boy" more than the LKz. PSS Eric, you really shouldn't have tripped over me all those years ago. PSSS "Space Brothers" is the greatest LKz song ever! PSSSS I'm glad you guys learned to improvise...
Don't trip over me, you fucking freaks!
if you have any lyric corrections, please send them my way too- keep in mind that all of the lyrics on the site i have transcribed without audio cues (from memory) with a few exceptions- so there are bound to be problems. thanks.
if anyone has any song or show reviews, please mail them to me- i'll be glad to put them up on the "reviews" page. any Testimonies as to how your life was changed by the krafterz or Fan Fiction (my date with pete reagel kinda stuff) will also be published. thanks.
I've got 3 Lenzkrafterz songs (recorded by Greg Norman in 1996) in RealAudio and MP3 form on Music page.
you should try to find ways to encourage more people to come to this web page? Is there a way to get sound files of the songs?
Eric: where's the link to this site on your webpage??? I'm putting one on MY webpage, so nya.
Come and see the new web site. Freaks!
Brendan: where's the link to this site on your webpage???
Leprosy.
I saw the LezKrafterz play up in Los Angeles! The music cured my Leporsy so I bought a shirt and had it bronzed! Remember, don't trip over joe!!!
Where all my niggaz iz at y'all?
I think the problem with this bulletin board is that only .05% of the LenzKrafterz or their fans have Internet access in 1999. I guess they really are a bunch of fvck!n freaks!
Rip up cats. Metaphorically.
free water
Lenz Krafterz are awesome! I'm a big fan! Burn Winnetka Burn......
Hey geeks look aroud you. There are facts you ignore but they surround you...
Hey you Hi-Fi Rock 'n Rollerz
Who are you calling a freak, freak? The combined height of the LenzKrafterz at any given time is far greater than the Beatles, even with John Lennon!
I think you're all a bunch of fuckin freaks. That's what *I* think.
